This past May, my husband and I celebrated our birthdays in New York. It was a special trip as I was turning the big 3-0 and we were both NYC virgins. It was also the first time he and I had ever taken a flight together! We're always travelling but had never been on a plane together before! Crazy, right? Because of all this, I knew right away that I wanted to create a travel scrapbook just for this trip. My goal was to focus mainly on the photos, keeping the embellishments to a minimum.
More cards used from the Everyday Edition Core kit and tags from Studio Calico. That HANGRY stamp is from Kelly Purkey's Let's Make Magic stamp set.
My amazing husband surprised me with tickets to see Wicked on Broadway for my birthday! As soon as I found out we were going to see the show, I knew right away that I'd be looking for souvenirs to use in my scrapbook. I bought a pack of buttons and used the bag it came in as a filler card.
I collected a lot of business cards on this trip and two of them ended up on this spread. I quickly got sick of just stapling the business cards onto filler cards (like I did on the top left hand corner) so I ended up cutting down that one on the right side. I also like how it allows for the details of the journaling card to show through more. This one was also purchased from In a Creative Bubble.
The banana bread pudding from Magnolia Bakery was so good that it deserved its own page. I cut up their menu and glued the pieces onto that card. The tags and cork embellishments are from Studio Calico and that tiny little speech bubble is also from the Everyday Edition embellishment pack.
It was definitely surreal to finally visit Central Park in person. We spent a good chunk of our Sunday just strolling through the park and sitting on benches to people watch.
I just LOVE how this page came out. I knew I was definitely going to showcase this cubano sandwich and elote (Mexican grilled corn) in my scrapbook because eating them was like love at first bite. I cut up a Studio Calico card to create that 'good eats' embellishment and I couldn't be happier with the results! I can just hear that white plate screaming, "journal on me! journal on me!" Thank you, Kelly Purkey! I will journal on it, eventually.
Even though we only had a one hour flight together, we savoured every single minute of it. Out of the dozens of photos we took together in the airport and on that plane, I'm honestly shocked that only one made it in the album!
